Keeping passwords safe on an SMM panel — for owners and customers
Most account takeovers start with a reused or phished password. Simple habits for owners, simple advice for customers, and what the panel itself should do.
Accounts on SMM panels hold money. That makes them worth stealing, and the easiest way in is almost always the password.
For panel owners
- Use a password manager and a unique, long password for every service: panel, email, hosting, registrar, payment accounts.
- Enable two-factor authentication on all of them.
- Never share the admin login. Give staff their own accounts so you can remove access and see who did what.
What to tell your customers
- Don't reuse the password from another site. If that site leaks, bots will try it on yours.
- Only sign in on the real domain — bookmark it.
- Nobody from support will ever ask for their password.
What the panel should do
A well-built panel protects customers even when they don't follow the advice:
- Rate limits and lockouts stop bots from guessing passwords at scale. On MediaPanal, five wrong attempts lock the account for a while — even the correct password is refused during the lockout.
- Strong hashing (such as Argon2id) means that even a leaked database doesn't reveal passwords.
- Checks against known-leaked passwords stop customers from picking one that's already in attackers' lists.
- Signing out every device after a password change, so a stolen session dies with the old password.
- A CAPTCHA on the login form to make automated attacks expensive.
If a customer's account is taken over
Suspend it, end its sessions, reset the password and review recent orders and payments before restoring access.
